Meet the Fockers (2004) - 27 mistakes

When Jack and Greg are in the motor home near the beginning of the movie, Jack is talking on the intercom mic to his family in the back, then puts it down when he is finished. But, in the following scene that shows Greg talking, you can see Jack's reflection on the window, showing him still talking into the mic.
During the scene when Gaylord Focker enters the room, while Bernie and Roz have fun with whipped cream, notice the whip cream on Bernie's face. Although the amount of cream would change because Bernie wipes his face, the amount and location of the whipped cream changes, goes back, changes again, and is almost completely different in each shot. Once wiped away, it is highly unlikely that whipped cream would magically reappear in the exact same spot as before, and then disappear again.
When little Jack is lying down in his crib in the Byne's' room you can easily tell this isn't a real child but just a doll. The hair is wrong and there's no movement, like breathing.
When Jack and Greg honk the horn at the bus with all the girls, not including the driver, there are four girls looking out the windows at the front half of the bus. These girls have a purple bra, a pink bra with long shirt sleeves, an orange/ pink bra, and then a dark green bra. After two girls flash, the girl in the pink bra with long shirt sleeves, and the girl in the dark green bra are suddenly at the back half of the bus.
During the scene when Gaylord's dad has just found out that Pam is pregnant, Bernie enters the room with a bottle of champagne. he crosses to the bed whilst removing the wire top of the cork in preparation of removing the cork. Cut to Gaylord and then back to Bernie and he is removing the wire again.
After the baby escapes from the crib, Greg walks past it looking for him and the door to the crib is open is open. Next shot, the door is closed and there was no time for him to close it.
In the scene where Greg is leaving a message on his parents answer machine about going to their house in the Byrnes' motor home, you can see that it is just Stiller standing in front of a blue screen, obviously they wanted to add the scene in after shooting had finished.
In the scene where Greg gets shot by the taser, there is a shot of the officer and Greg is on the floor, but the cord that is supposedly connected to Greg is very easily seen running off screen in the opposite direction to Greg. Then in the next shot it is running towards Greg.
The time frame doesn't make sense when the kid glues his hand to the glue bottle. He turns on Scarface, which is nearly over. The Fockers and the Byrnes are still in town shopping and Little Jack smears glue all over his hands. By the time they get home from town, the glue bottle is well stuck to the hands. However, Scarface is still on and still on the last fight scene.
Jack's Tom Collins has different amounts of liquid when they are sitting by the lagoon.
At the end when Greg and Pam get married, Kevin plays a song on a set of pipes, however, the notes he plays are wrong - when he blows the short pipes, a low note is made, and vice versa. This should be the other way around.
All the glasses of wine and the bottle change position and amount of liquid during the dinner scene.
in the scene where Greg comes in to his parents bedroom and they are having fun with whipped cream, there are 2 pillar candles by the door. These candles are seen in several of the shots showing Greg. The flames keep going out and relighting, but the candles are too new for the flame to be just dipping out of sight, and besides those sort of candles will often glow near the top when that happens. They must have kept blowing out between takes and the crew kept lighting them.
When Greg meets his "son", Jack's hand moves from on Jorges shoulder, to off it, to on his back in subsequent shots.
When the Fockers and the Byrnes are arguing after the baby glues his hand to the rum bottle, Jack yells something about celebrating mediocrity and gestures at Kate. It's the other hand that's gesturing in the next shot.
In the scene where Gay is telling his parents to be quieter in the bedroom the candles beside him keep going out and then relighting when the camera comes back to him.
When demonstrating the baby's "sign language", Jack puts a series of cards on the table. You see him start to put the "poop" card down in one shot and even hear it hitting the table and being moved slightly in the next shot. But after those shots, you see him put it down again.
When everyone is having fondue in the patio room, Isabelle comes out and kisses Gaylord on the cheek. The lipstick mark she left on his right cheek changes positions and even disappears from scene to scene.
In the foreskin scene Greg grabs the photo album and he and his mom start a tug of war. His mom's wineglass is right next to her arm and then in the next shot it is about a foot away.
In the scene where Jack is about to inject Greg with truth serum, Greg sees the needle in the mirror and is holding it with two hands, then suddenly he's holding it with one hand one shot later.
When Greg is speaking at the party at the end, the champagne glass is in different hands in different shots and then is not there at all before it reappears. It wasn't in his hand when he got up to speak and the level of the liquid changes as well.
When Bernie tackles Jack, the ball drops at his feet, beside Jack. When the camera cuts away, the ball jumps ten feet away from Jack and Bernie moves away from both of them.
In the scene where the two sets of parents meet for the first time on the island, Greg/Gaylord has a wet splash on his t-shirt and it looks slightly creased. This changes to there being no wetness at all, some wetness and then very wet again in between shots of him. When he enters the house, his t-shirt is totally smooth and dry.
When Greg is talking on the microphone towards the end, it appears in his hand. However, the next time he pops it off the stand, it makes a loud noise that wasn't there the first time.
Two shots after Gaylord touches the boob, you can see a boom mike dip into view.
During the scene where Greg makes the "truth serum speech" you can see that the microphone has no cord, it should have a normal XLR or wireless interface cord in it. But it has nothing. So why can everyone hear him, if the mic isn't plugged in?
Toward the end of the movie, when Bernie is going to fight Jack, Jack's hands are on his hips then in the next shot they are down. |
